This was our view from the side of the ship, showing the tall bridge and the port:
We took a taxi to visit downtown, and took pictures from the top of the tall bridge:
After walking a bit downtown, we decided to stop for a drink and some snacks. Carmen was enjoying her time in Curaçao while having a lemonade. Shortly afterwards, we found a shop where we bought everything we were looking for: Dutch Gouda cheese (10 lb.), Curaçao Blue (recommended by Diana), postcards for Margie, and some souvenirs.
The most interesting thing we saw in Curaçao was the floating bridge. This is a bridge that you can walk through, south of the large bridge, that moves whenever ships sail through the canal. We heard about the bridge, but being able to walk across on it was amazing. We saw it open up and close multiple times. Below are the pictures showing the different stages. Carmen and Chito got caught on the bridge while it was opening up. Sean and I had already made it across and suddenly the alarms started to sound off. We didn't know what to do, so we told them to hurry up so they could make it on land before they were separated on the floating bridge. Yes, you can feel the bridge move with the waves.
This are pictures showing Carmen and Chito caught on the bridge:
Aside from the cheese, Carmen purchased a bright bag to remember Curaçao:
After a Curaçao Blue drink at the port (a slurry of Pineapple juice, 2 shots Curaçao Blue and 1 shot Rum), we headed back to the ship. The view was impressive with the water crystal clear and bright blue. In this case, the picture does do it justice. I was afraid the colors wouldn't show through on the images, but they came out just as if you were there:
